Major General Abul Hossain, ndc, psc

1. Major General Abul Hossain, was born in March 1962. He was commissioned in the Corps of Engineers in Bangladesh Army in the year 1981. He is a civil engineering graduate of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He obtained Masters in Business Administration from American International University, Bangladesh (AIUB) and Masters of Defence Studies from National University, Bangladesh. He is a graduate both from Defence Service Command and Staff College and National Defence College at Mirpur, Dhaka. He is a Life Fellow of Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) and also a Fellow of Asia Pacific Centre for Security Studies (APCSS), USA. He has undergone number of military courses both at home and abroad, notable ones are ‘Junior Officers Combat Engineering Course’ in China, ‘Battalion Commander Command Course' in Turkey, 'International Border Security and Management Course’ in United Kingdom and ‘Advance Security Cooperation: Executive Course' in USA.

2. General Hossain was the Commandant of Bangladesh Ordnance Factories (BOF), Gazipur prior to his present appointment. He joined as the Commandant, Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) on 12 September 2012. He served in different Engineer Battalions including commanding one of them. He served as Brigade Major (BM) of 14 Independent engineer Brigade. He commanded 17 Engineer Construction Battalion. He has served as Chief Instructor at School of Military Engineering (SME); He also served as the sector commander of Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB), Director of Special Works Organization (SWO) - an engineering construction Brigade and the Director of Works and Chief Engineer (DW&CE) of Bangladesh Army, Chief Engineer of Dhaka City Corporation. He has participated in United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Mozambique (ONUMOZ) and Operation Kuwait Punargathan (OKP 1) in Kuwait.

3. General Hossain attended many Seminars both at home and abroad. He has also number of publications in different journals. He has keen interest in the field of energy and climate security. He is a widely travelled person and travelled a number of countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America. He is fond of playing golf and reading books. He is married and is blessed with two daughters.
