Facilities
CSE department provides excellent facilities to students and faculties to render quality education. It has its own departmental library for faculty members for providing reference books and other research materials. All the class rooms and laboratories are housed in the tower building-1. Each class room is equipped with modern training facilities like multimedia projector, microphone, speakers, web camera, and computer with high speed internet connection. This department administers and maintains the high speed big LAN of the institute through its IT Cell. It is to be mentioned that in addition to the big optical fiber internet backbone, whole MIST campus has been brought under modern Wi-Fi coverage. Here students enjoy enriched lab facilities to perform their sessional (practical) classes. Various labs of CSE department are listed below:
Ø Artificial Intelligence/VLSI Lab
The AI lab is situated in the level 4 of the tower building-1. The lab consists of 35X HP brand up-to-date computers, multimedia projector with all time electricity backup facility. Each computer is connected with central LAN server through switch and other hardware. Procurement of modern robots and other equipment is in the process to make this lab an ideal one.
Ø Network Lab
The network lab is situated in the level 6 of the tower building-1. It is equipped with 35X HP brand most up-to-date computers with latest PCI Express graphics card, CISCO Router, CISCO Switch, Hub and other network related equipment. Each computer is connected with central LAN server through switch and other hardware. Procurement of OTDR, splicer machine and other equipment is in the process to make this lab an ideal one. Students of EECE department also perform their sessional (practical) classes on computer network course in this laboratory.
Ø Microprocessor and Micro Controller Lab
This lab is situated in the level 6 of the tower building-1. It is equipped with MTS 88.C Micro kit with additional plug in devices, DC power supply, modern trainer board, multi meters, oscilloscopes, various IC’s, Logic probe, EPROM writer, different types of motors and other necessary accessories. Students of EECE department also perform their sessional (practical) classes on microprocessor course in this laboratory.
Ø Digital Lab
This lab is situated in the level 6 of the tower building-1. This lab is equipped with modern trainer board, bread board, DC power supply, oscilloscopes, various IC’s, IC tester, Logic probe, Digital Multimeter, Computer service toolkit, signal generator and other equipment.
Ø Software Engineering Lab
The software Engineering lab is situated in the level 4 of the tower building-1. The lab is equipped with 35X HP brand up-to-date computers, multimedia projector with all time electricity backup facility. Each computer is connected with central LAN server through switch and other hardware. Students of civil engineering department also perform their sessional (practical) classes on AUTOCAD in this laboratory.
Ø Internet Browsing Room
Located in the level 4 of the academic tower building-1 the internet browsing room provides facility to the students to use the high speed internet connection of MIST to ease their research work during class hours.
Ø MIST IT Cell and Central Server Room
This department administers and maintains the high speed big LAN of the institute through its IT Cell. Located in the level4 the sever room is equipped with adequate number of server, router, switch, media converter and other hardware to build up a robust LAN connecting all the PCs of MIST through fiber optical backbone. It is to be mentioned that in addition to the big optical fiber internet backbone, whole MIST campus has been brought under modern Wi-Fi coverage. It has 24 hours Internet facilities with dedicated broadband connection.
Ø Teacher's PC Lab
In CSE department all faculty members have their own computers connected with internet. Moreover the department has a teacher’s pc lab to offer permanent/guest faculty members additional internet and printing facilities to conduct research works and related academic activities during class hours.
Each of these laboratories is capable of handling about 30-35 students at a time providing full facilities. It has all the necessary equipment for multimedia and interfacing lab. These resources serve special purposes not only to the CSE department but also to other departments of MIST as per their program. The department always endeavors to keep the labs updated with modern facilities. Some other proposed labs will be established very soon to enrich the lab facilities.
Industrial Training
Here students get practical working experience through industrial attachment in the outside firms/industries/organizations. After completion of third year final exam they are sent to different firms/industries/organizations for one month industrial attachment. From this experience they get chance to develop themselves to meet the requirement of the current job market.
